The custom
Coastal neighborhoods — Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, La Jolla — start early and stay outside. Downtown and North Park are the later, more bar-shaped version. Fish tacos and a pint are as canonical as a cocktail. The hour is social rather than a sharp office bell.
